About the Service Year
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) is a one-year mandatory program established by the Nigerian
government for graduates of universities and polytechnics. As a graduate of Electrical & Electronics
Engineering, I was deployed to Niger State, Minna for my service year where I had the opportunity to
contribute meaningfully to the community while developing essential professional and interpersonal
skills.
This transformative experience in Minna allowed me to immerse myself in a new environment, collaborate
with fellow corps members from diverse backgrounds across Nigeria, and make lasting contributions to the
local community through various projects and initiatives, particularly in fire safety awareness and
emergency response.
Platoon 1 Parade Commandant
I was appointed as the Platoon 1 Parade Commandant, a prestigious leadership position
that placed me at the forefront of coordinating and leading Platoon 1 corps members in all camp
activities and beyond. This role required exceptional organizational skills, discipline, and the ability
to inspire and mobilize fellow corps members.
- Parade Leadership: Led Platoon 1 during all parade sessions, drills, and ceremonial
activities throughout the service year
- Team Coordination: Organized and coordinated platoon members for various camp and
post-camp activities
- Discipline & Motivation: Maintained high standards of discipline while motivating
platoon members to excel in all endeavors
- Representation: Served as the primary representative and voice for Platoon 1 in
official matters and inter-platoon competitions
- Mentorship: Provided guidance and support to fellow corps members, fostering
teamwork and camaraderie
Primary Place of Assignment (PPA)
I served at the Niger State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure in Minna, where I made
significant contributions by applying my Electrical & Electronics Engineering expertise to support the
ministry's operations and infrastructure projects.
- Electrical Engineering Applications: Applied electrical engineering principles to
analyze, design, and support various infrastructure projects within the ministry
- Systems Troubleshooting: Diagnosed and resolved electrical system issues, ensuring
optimal functionality of ministry facilities and equipment
- Technical Documentation: Utilized Microsoft Office suite for comprehensive
documentation, report writing, and data management
- Engineering Drawings & Analysis: Employed drawing and analysis tools for technical
schematics, electrical layouts, and project planning
- Hands-on Technical Work: Utilized physical tools for on-site electrical
installations, maintenance, and repairs
- Infrastructure Support: Contributed to the ministry's mission of developing and
maintaining Niger State's infrastructure through dedicated technical support
Fire Safety Community Development Service (CDS)
I served as a dedicated member of the Fire Safety Community Development Service at the Federal Fire
Service Zone G Command Headquarters, Minna. This CDS group focused on fire safety awareness, prevention,
and emergency response training within the community.
- Fire Safety Awareness: Participated in community outreach programs to educate
residents about fire prevention and safety measures
- Emergency Response Training: Received training on firefighting techniques and
emergency response protocols
- Public Education: Conducted sensitization campaigns in schools and public spaces
about fire hazards and safety precautions
- Equipment Familiarization: Gained hands-on experience with firefighting equipment
and safety apparatus
- Community Service: Contributed to the Federal Fire Service's mission of protecting
lives and property in Minna and surrounding areas

Assignment, leveraging my Electrical & Electronics Engineering background

safety awareness. These activities fostered a sense of civic responsibility and demonstrated the power
of collective action in protecting lives and property through fire safety education and emergency
preparedness.
